We have been watching as dozens of cities across the United States have seen historic protests and turnouts sparked by the murder of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man, at the hands of police in Minneapolis. It has sparked a pivotal moment that has led to a global movement, with solidarity protests planned in cities across the world – including Canadian cities.

UB stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and struggles for racial justice across the world. It’s not enough to recognize one’s own privilege, we must listen to the marginalized voices of the communities most impacted by injustice. UB Media is using its national Resto-Bar network as a platform to make space for those needed to be heard. Over the next five months you will see Black Lives Matter in our digital screens across Canada in order to help keep the momentum going for this critical cause and further impact change.

“In a racist society it is not enough to be non-racist, we must be antiracist.”

-Angela Davis, American activist, academic & author
