In an unprecedented year, CMHC reported the annual pace of urban starts of condos and other multiple-unit housing climbed 9% in the third quarter of 2020, while single-detached urban starts fell 1%. “It has become the starter home for peak millennials and first-time buyers fleeing the nest…as well as their baby-boomer parents looking to downsize,” noted Royal LePage CEO Phil Soper.
