Spotlight on Bottega Pizzeria

Nestled in the heart of Montreal’s Little Italy is a favourite UB venue of ours, the famous family-run Pizzeria Bottega. Open for over a decade, The Gazette describes this hotspot as earning its place “as a must destination for authentic pizza and sfizi.” Bottega is known for seeking out amazing ingredients, such as organic salumi, fresh mozzarella di buffala from Caserta and hand-picked San Marzano tomatoes — all make up their authentic Italian cuisine. Did we mention they even have a Vesuvian rock wood-burning oven that was shipped in one piece from the port of Naples? The forno is just shy of four tons and cooks a margherita in 90 seconds flat.

Bottega means “workshop/studio,” aptly named by the founders as a way of expressing their ethos and approach to homemade cuisine. Everything at Bottega is homemade, from the perfect pizza dough to the tomato sauce and even the restaurant’s famous gelati.
